I can confirm the performance compared to the crotch-rockets. I got my old Sav new in '89, at the same time that some friends of mine got Ninjas. They were shocked when they discovered that they could never get off the line ahead of me. My new '03 sems to even more sprightly in acceleration. It'll pull the front wheel off the ground if I get after it enough (don't have to dump the clutch, either). My old one wouldn't do that, and I really tried. Of course, I don't make a habit of doing that. I'm older and wiser now, and have realized that replacement parts get a bit expensive. It's nice to know it's capable of it, though ;-)
